1. Introduction

KeyBro ("we", "our", or "the App") is a voice-first AI keyboard for iPhone, made up of the KeyBro app and the KeyBro keyboard extension.

KeyBro is designed to keep your voice and text private. There is no KeyBro account and no KeyBro server: the App does not send your recordings or text to us.

2. Information the App Uses

Depending on the features you use, KeyBro processes:

  • Your voice, while you dictate, to turn it into text
  • The text you dictate, and its cleaned-up and edited versions
  • Text you select in another app when you run an AI shortcut on it
  • Your shortcuts, dictionary, settings and API keys
  • Usage counts, such as words, speech time, AI requests and tokens

This information is used only to provide dictation, clean-up, AI shortcuts, history and usage statistics.

3. The Keyboard and Full Access

The KeyBro keyboard asks you to turn on Allow Full Access. It uses Full Access to send your requests to the AI provider you choose and to exchange your dictation with the KeyBro app, which records on the keyboard's behalf.

KeyBro does not log your keystrokes and does not send what you type to us. Text from the app you are typing in is sent to an AI provider only when you ask for it: text you dictate, or text you select before running an AI shortcut.

If Learn from my corrections is turned on, the keyboard compares the text it inserted with your later edits in the same field and saves only the corrected word pairs, on your device, as correction memories. You can review, turn off and delete them in the App.

iOS always uses the system keyboard in secure fields, such as passwords, so KeyBro never sees them.

4. Voice and the Microphone

iOS does not let keyboards use the microphone, so the KeyBro app records for the keyboard while a voice session is active.

Recordings are never saved to permanent storage. Audio is processed while you speak and discarded once it has been turned into text. If an upload fails, the recording waits in the App's temporary folder so you can retry, and is then deleted.

Transcripts pass between the App and the keyboard only while they are being processed and are deleted once the keyboard has received them. A preview you have not inserted may be kept on your device for up to ten minutes while the keyboard is hidden, so it is not lost.

5. AI Providers and Speech Recognition

KeyBro works with the AI provider you configure with your own API key, such as OpenAI, OpenRouter, or another OpenAI-compatible service. When you dictate or run an AI shortcut, your audio and text are sent directly from your iPhone to that provider, which processes them under its own terms and privacy policy.

If you choose Apple speech recognition, your voice is processed by Apple and may be sent to Apple's servers, subject to Apple's privacy policy.

If you use Apple's on-device model, clean-up and AI shortcuts run on your iPhone and your text is not sent to a cloud provider.

Test versions we distribute, such as through TestFlight, may use an AI provider account we supply. In those versions, your audio and text are sent to that provider through our account, are not stored by us, and are subject to that provider's policies.

6. Data Stored on Your Device

The following stays on your iPhone, shared only between the KeyBro app and keyboard:

  • History: the final text of each result and its numbers (such as speech time, tokens and estimated cost), never audio or intermediate versions. You can turn History off and clear it at any time.
  • Your shortcuts, dictionary, correction memories and settings
  • Usage statistics, stored as counts only
  • Your API keys, stored in the iOS Keychain

7. Advertising, Tracking and Analytics

KeyBro does not show ads, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

We do not sell or share your personal information.

8. How We Use Information

Information processed by KeyBro is used to:

  • Turn your speech into clean text and apply the edits and shortcuts you request
  • Show your history and usage statistics in the App
  • Keep your settings in sync between the App and the keyboard
  • Respond to you when you contact us
  • Comply with legal obligations

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Recordings are not retained. Transcripts are deleted once used, and an uninserted preview after at most ten minutes.

History, shortcuts, dictionary, correction memories and statistics remain on your device until you clear them in the App or delete the App.

AI providers and Apple may retain data they receive under their own retention policies. Please review the policies of the providers you use.

If you email us, we keep your message only as long as needed to help you.

10. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or withdrawal of consent for certain data uses.

You can turn Full Access, microphone and speech recognition permissions on or off in iOS Settings, turn off Keep History and Learn from my corrections in the App, and remove your API keys at any time.

If you contact us, we will make reasonable efforts to respond in accordance with applicable law.

11. Children

KeyBro is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information associated with KeyBro, such as keeping API keys in the iOS Keychain and sending requests to providers over encrypted connections.

However, no system or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

Your continued use of KeyBro after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
